Uganda for travellers from Rwanda

🇷🇼Depuis le Rwanda

Uganda, written for the Rwandan neighbour who reads the land carefully.

From Kigali, Uganda is a short flight or a beautiful overland morning. We design private journeys for Rwandan travellers who want to add chimps, the Nile, and Uganda's quieter plains to a region they already know intimately — usually seven to ten nights, written in private.

The Practical Brief

The journey, in plain terms

Everything a Rwandan & East African traveller needs to know before the first conversation. We hold the rest — the lodges, the permits, the guides, and the long, quiet arc of the journey itself.

01

Flights

Direct daily service from KGL to Entebbe with RwandAir and Uganda Airlines. Total flying time of one hour. Overland from Kigali via Katuna or Cyanika takes a scenic day.

02

Visas

Rwandan and East African Community passport holders enter Uganda visa-free under the EAC protocol. A valid national ID or passport is sufficient.

03

Best season for Rwandan travellers

June through September and December through February are the drier seasons — ideal for gorillas, plains, and the Nile.

04

How long to come

Seven to ten nights is enough for a complete arc from Rwanda. A long weekend suits one chapter — Murchison and the Nile, or Kibale's chimps.

05

Currency

The Uganda Shilling. Rwandan francs exchange in Kampala; US dollars are widely accepted at lodges; cards work in cities and at most lodges.

06

Safety

Uganda is calm and welcoming. We move with private vehicles, vetted guides, and provide twenty-four-hour ground support throughout.

The Honest Questions

What Rwandan & East African travellers actually ask

01

Are French-speaking guides available?

+

Oui, sur demande. We arrange a French-speaking guide for the full journey at no extra notice, with the same care for nuance.

02

How does Uganda differ from Volcanoes?

+

Wider, wilder, more layered. Beyond gorillas Uganda offers chimps, the Nile, tree-climbing lions, and savannah on a scale Rwanda's geography cannot hold.

03

Can EAC residents access resident rates?

+

Yes. EAC residents and citizens receive resident pricing on park fees and many lodges. We hold all rate cards.

Nous sommes partis de Kigali pour quelques jours. IMAGINE nous a offert un autre Uganda — silencieux, vaste, inoubliable.

Beyond the Bush

Kampala after dark, and the festivals in between.

Uganda is not only her parks. Kampala hums after dusk — rooftop bars over Nakasero, live afrobeat at Cayenne and The Lawns, jazz suppers at Mediterraneo, and long Sunday brunches that drift into evening. We open private tables, host introductions, and weave a city night or two into your arc when it suits.

Nights out

Rooftops, live music, late suppers

From The Pearl Lounge and Cayenne to a candlelit dinner at Latitude or the long verandah at Emin Pasha — we hold the reservations and the driver.

Festivals & calendar

Nyege Nyege, Bayimba, Blankets & Wine

Nyege Nyege on the Nile in September, Bayimba in May, Blankets & Wine across the year, and the Kampala Art Biennale every other autumn. We time arcs around them on request.

Culture, quietly

Royal audiences, ateliers, private kitchens

An afternoon with a Kasubi historian, a tasting in a chef's home in Muyenga, an introduction to a Buganda court musician — the city, opened gently.
