Every journey begins the same way: with a phone call we do not rush. We ask the question we have learned matters most, not where do you want to go, but what would you like to be different about yourself when you return.
What follows is six to ten weeks of quiet work. A designer is assigned. A naturalist is consulted. A cultural steward is brought in if the route brushes a community we have a relationship with. Routes are drawn, then redrawn, then redrawn once more.
When the proposal arrives, always by courier, always on paper, it is not a brochure. It is a piece of writing about a journey that does not yet exist, composed for the single person who is about to take it.
