Lake Bunyonyi
Twenty-nine islands, no hippos, and the quietest mornings in southern Uganda.
Lake Bunyonyi is the second-deepest lake in Africa, set in the Kigezi highlands at 1,962 metres. There are no hippos, no crocodiles and almost no engine noise. We use it as the decompression chapter after Bwindi, or as a stand-alone retreat for travellers who want the country at its quietest.
Canoes and islands
Dugout canoes between the islands, swims at altitude, and a sunrise breakfast on a hidden island that has become one of our quiet signatures.
