Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Uganda
An hour with a family of mountain gorillas, designed with care.
Uganda is one of only three countries in the world where the mountain gorilla can be tracked, and the only one where it can be tracked through dense, primordial rainforest. We design these journeys with a long history of access in Bwindi and Mgahinga, and with a particular care for the pace around the trek itself.
Bwindi or Mgahinga?
Bwindi is the larger park, with four sectors and the widest choice of habituated families. Mgahinga is smaller, volcanic, and holds one family in a more open landscape. Most of our travellers go to Bwindi. Travellers who want a quieter experience and a more cinematic backdrop sometimes choose Mgahinga.
Permits
Gorilla permits in Uganda are issued by the Uganda Wildlife Authority and must be reserved well ahead, particularly for the dry seasons. We hold permits as part of the design process.
